Missy’s Story

Filed under: About — Meredith @ 5:30 pm

I grew up in Western Oklahoma where I spent evenings and summers working and checking cattle. And much to my dismay a lot of time in the tractor. If you are looking for a grain cart driver, I am your gal!

So how did I end up where I am at now? I have always had an artistic side, and would draw anytime I had a free chance or redecorate my room as many times as my parents would allow. I spent four years in Stillwater, OK getting my bachelors in Ag Economics at OSU. GO POKES! Then married my high school sweetheart the weekend after graduation and returned to the cattle business. The first year I spent working side by side with my husband until the arrival of our daughter and a few years later our son. Being at home with them gave me the time to explore my artistic side and I began designing jewelry. An expensive hobby is where Silver Steer Boutique was born.

You can find my designs in several boutique’s and western stores across the United States.  I had the opportunity to be the jewelry sponsor for Women’s Pro Rodeo Today and work with the lovely Jymmy Kay Davis in 2009.    Designing a Couture Piece to be paired with a Thistles West dress for the Cody High Style Show was a real highlight!  I equally loved watching my designs walk the runway in the Style West Show!

Just because Silver Steer Boutique and Couture Cowgirl was born doesn’t mean that I have escaped the work of the farm; pulling stock trailers, driving tractors, and feeding cattle are still a part of the territory! Which I truly enjoy (If you know my husband, please don’t tell him I said that!)

So what do you get with a farm girl that has a passion for Couture Design and a degree in Ag Economics?  I am in MY element while wearing boots and jeans on the farm or wearing Couture designs while sipping wine in Napa!
